Our History

The Wimborne Wine Society began life in 1967 as a Wine Circle when 13 local winemakers came together to share their knowledge with each other about wine-making techniques.

Home wine-making became less popular and many Wine Circles lost membership and closed down. To move with the times, The Wimborne Wine Society was born in 2003, aiming to enable members to enjoy and learn about commercial wines in a relaxed and informal way. Since then we have become one of the most successful wine clubs in Dorset, meeting  on the first Wednesday of every month to taste a wide variety of wines.
